Tk 204cr deal signed for building 17 bridges

The government on Monday inked a Tk 204-crore deal with a local construction firm to build 17 small bridges in three districts of the country.

Under the agreement, the bridges will be constructed in Khishoreganj, Tangail and Munshiganj.

Roads and Highways Department signed the agreement with construction company Mir Akhter Hossain Ltd at Sarak Bhaban in presence of Communications Minister Obaidul Quader.

Chief Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Aminur Rahman Laskar and Mir Nasir Hossain, managing director of the construction firm, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

The contact was signed under “Eastern Bangladesh Bridge Improvement Project”.

The government has taken up the project at a cost of Tk 690 crore with the financial supports of the JICA under which 117 bridges would be constructed.

Of the total, Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) will provide Tk 501 crore while the rest will come from the government fund.
