A garment trader was found dead in Srinagar upazila on Friday, four days after he had gone missing. Police recovered the body of Sohagh Dhali, 25, owner of ‘Sohagh Garment’ situated in the district town of Rajbari, from Bejgoan Doba (water body) by the Dhaka-Noapara road in Srinagar upazila in the afternoon.

Later, the body was sent to Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy.

Family sources said Sohagh Dhali had come to Srinagar from Rajbari on Monday afternoon to meet his paternal cousin Nayem who works at the local branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd.

They had parted company at the Srinagar Ferryghat, when Sohagh had told Nayem that he would go to Dhaka. However, he had remained missing since then.

A general diary was lodged with the Rajbari Sadar Police Station on Tuesday in this regard. A copy of the GD was handed over to the Srinagar Police Station the following day.

The victim’s maternal uncle Abdur Rashid said Sohagh had been carrying Tk 200,000 (2 lakh) and credit cards of different banks with him.

Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the Srinagar police station said there were marks of injury on the forehead and back of the head of the victim. “He might have been killed 2-3 days ago.”
