27th span of Padma Bridge installed

Over 4 km of the bridge is visible now
The 27th span of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge has been installed, making the county’s giant structure 4,050 metres visible.

The 5-C span was placed between the 27th and the 28th pillars at Jajira point in Shariatpur around 9: 15 am on Saturday.

Deputy Assistant Engineer of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project Md Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Humayun Kabir said: The span was brought near the pillars by a floating crane from Mawa’s Kumarbhog construction yard on Friday morning and it has been installed in Morning.”

Earlier, the 26th span of the Padma Bridge was installed on March 10 .

A total of 41 spans will be installed on 42 concrete pillars to complete the bridge.

The construction work of the long-cherished 6.15 km Padma Bridge started in December, 2015 and the first span (superstructure) was installed on September 30, 2017.

When the construction of the bridge is completed, the capital will be directly connected with 21 southern districts through road and railways.
